Mr. & Mrs. John Knowlton
Phoenix, Arizona (no longer breeding cats)

The Phoenician Cattery, although no longer breeding cats, was owned by John & Anita Knowlton in Phoenix, Arizona. For the period of time they devoted to producing Persians they made two very important contributions to the Cat Fancy, namely CH Phoenician Sinbad and his son out of a Castilia female, GC Phoenician Damascus. The Fontaine Cattery in Glendale, CA (Georgia and Alex Alexander) used Sinbad as their foundation male to sire many beautiful white Persians including Fontaine Touch Of Class. GC Phoenician Damascus was acquired by the Can-Do Cattery in Phoenix, Arizona and there he produced many Grand Champion offspring including GC Can-Do Afternoon Delight, CFA’s National 2nd Best Cat in 1977-78. A Woodland backed female was bred to Damascus during this time to produce GC Sun-Thunder Wind Star and her sister GC Sun-Thunder Snow Bird. The Phoenician background is very evident in the Ann-Ge/ Windborne bloodlines, especially in the facial expression.
